This four-inch cube is constructed from Bolivian Rosewood intentionally cut to have the grain connect and wrap around the cube.

The crest of the wave is composed of seven intersecting pieces of mother of pearl. The lower portion of the wave is cut from a deep blue acrylic that has subtle, iridescent swirls.

The cube has inlays on all five visible sides: a nautical theme and initials ("K" with a flame, for Kenneth, which means "fire," and the Roman Numeral "IV"). The Cube was a custom piece marking the arrival of a baby boy.

The anchor is cut from aluminum and has a rope that winds around, composed of ten individual pieces of flame birch.

The "K" and flame are cut from different types of acrylic, each having its own visual effect in the light.

The nautical star on top is comprised of walnut, cherry, bird's eye maple, and brass. The entire cube is joined using miters with the addition of matching rosewood keys to reinforce its strength.

The underside of the cube was routed by hand, and then filled with sky-blue stone-granule material to incorporate the date and artist's signature.
